Jennifer's 3.5 Star Review
“Lord, protect our
firefighters. Keep them safe each day
and night. Give them courage and
strength on each rescue and fire they fight.”
~Firefighter Prayer~
This book was unlike any that I have read before. It is definitely not your typical romance story. There is no fairytale story here. This story is raw and emotional. I think the author did a really good job of showing the struggle that a person with manic depression. There were parts of this book where I just wanted to reach out to the characters and wrap them all in a hug.
“A firefighter’s flame will never
cease if it burns bright in the hearts of his loved ones, in the souls of the
ones he tried to save, and in the memories of the lives he touched.”
I do wish that we had been able to see a little
bit more of Lennox and Dean’s life together as a married couple. Even though the story went back and forth
between different times in their lives, it seemed that we learned more about
them when they were teenagers and in college than we did about them as a
married couple. I would have also like
to have seen the ending of this book explored a little more. I liked what happened for Lennox in the
ending because she really did deserve happiness, but it seemed to end on almost
a cliffhanger. At the end of the story
we know what Lennox is feeling but don’t get to see if she decides to follow
through on those feelings. For me this
book gets 3.5 stars and I will be looking for more books by Dani Hart!
Dani’s passion for writing started at a very young age. It all started with a multitude of diaries, then as her passion grew she turned to poetry and short stories. She received her Bachelor’s Degree at USC in Theatre with an unofficial minor in writing. As family life got busy her passion was pushed aside, but as she fell back into the love of reading her desire to write again increased, so she returned to it in the summer of 2013. She is currently working on a YA Urban Fantasy Romance series, The Life of Arie, with book 1 already published, and a Romance Novel to be released on March 17, 2014. Prologue
There was a time in my life when the light within me shined so brightly. At some point I lost it. I lost me. Life used to course through my veins like an out of control wildfire, unstoppable and infectious. Time was supposed to heal, but all it did was slowly strip me down to an empty vessel void of passion, desire, and drive. I wanted to scream, “Be the one to save me,” but my soul was drained, my heart was shattered, and time had siphoned the life out of me.
