BLOG TOUR - The Great Scots

About THE SEDUCTION OF MISS  AMELIA BELL
Edmund MacGregor will do anything to save Scotland from English rule-even kidnap Lady Amelia Bell for ransom. As the daughter of a duke and the chancellor's betrothed, she's the perfect pawn in this game. But from the moment he first lays eyes on his spirited captive, he can't resist stealing a kiss.

Lady Amelia's duty is to marry well, but that hasn't stopped her from fantasizing about true love. So when a sexy Scot appears in her home, she's beguiled. When he kidnaps her, she's furious. Yet as Edmund introduces her to a world of passion beyond her wildest dreams, can she leave her family behind for this handsome Highlander? And will Edmund risk the only true home he's ever known to capture the heart of this lovely lass?
Erin's 3.5 Star Review
While the book started out slow for me it quickly picked up steam. There's plenty of battles, castles & puppies to keep your attention (not to mention hot Scotman Highlanders).

About TO LOVE A HIGHLANDER
As one of the bastards born to the Stirling court, Sorley the Hawk has never known his mother or father. It's a burning quest he has devoted himself to uncovering at any cost. But as a roguish warrior who serves at the pleasure of the King, his prowess-both on the battlefield and in his bedchamber-is legendary. So when a flame-haired Highland lass sneaks into his quarters with a tantalizing proposition, he can't resist taking her up on her offer .

Lady Mirabelle MacLaren will do anything to keep from marrying her odious suitor, even sully her own good name. And who better to despoil her than his sworn enemy, the one they call "Hawk?" As they set about the enjoyable task of ruining her reputation, Hawk and Mirabelle soon learn that rebellion never tasted so sweet.

Erin's 4 Star Review
Grabbed my attention from the first chapter & held it until the end. Sorley is all kinds of Scottish hotness. I liked that she gave them enough of an accent that it sounds authentic but is still easy to understand. A fantastic historical!

Jennifer's 3.5 Star Review

“Lord, protect our firefighters.  Keep them safe each day and night.  Give them courage and strength on each rescue and fire they fight.”

~Firefighter Prayer~

This book was unlike any that I have read before.  It is definitely not your typical romance story.  There is no fairytale story here.  This story is raw and emotional.  I think the author did a really good job of showing the struggle that a person with manic depression.  There were parts of this book where I just wanted to reach out to the characters and wrap them all in a hug.

“A firefighter’s flame will never cease if it burns bright in the hearts of his loved ones, in the souls of the ones he tried to save, and in the memories of the lives he touched.”

I do wish that we had been able to see a little bit more of Lennox and Dean’s life together as a married couple.  Even though the story went back and forth between different times in their lives, it seemed that we learned more about them when they were teenagers and in college than we did about them as a married couple.  I would have also like to have seen the ending of this book explored a little more.  I liked what happened for Lennox in the ending because she really did deserve happiness, but it seemed to end on almost a cliffhanger.  At the end of the story we know what Lennox is feeling but don’t get to see if she decides to follow through on those feelings.  For me this book gets 3.5 stars and I will be looking for more books by Dani Hart!

Prologue
There was a time in my life when the light within me shined so brightly. At some point I lost it. I lost me. Life used to course through my veins like an out of control wildfire, unstoppable and infectious. Time was supposed to heal, but all it did was slowly strip me down to an empty vessel void of passion, desire, and drive. I wanted to scream, “Be the one to save me,” but my soul was drained, my heart was shattered, and time had siphoned the life out of me.

Amanda's 5 Star Review
First off let me say, if I was a teen again I would want Ellie as my best friend.  I actually see a little of my teen self in Ellie.  This is a lot different than some of the YA I read, but Zahni has done a great job with the sarcasm and wit in the story.  Ellie is lost in her world, and is trying to find herself.  This book is amazing and I can't wait for Terminal Romantic! :)

The Excerpt:
"Ellie, can you answer me one question?"
"Yes, Hilary. Your uniform makes you look like a brown Power Ranger."
Hilary rolled her eyes all the way back and gave Ellie a "ha ha ha" through clenched teeth. A couple wearing matching tracksuits walked in and Hil gave them menus before returning her attention to Ellie.
"Eleanor, I'm being serious. Answer me one question and I won't give you any more crap about school. Deal?"
Ellie pointed at Hilary. "Shoot, Megazord."
"Why, oh why do you have to turn every confrontation with an authority figure into World War Four?"
"Wait, you want to know, essentially, why I can't deal?" Hilary nodded emphatically, and Ellie continued. "Oh, that's easy peezy. We can all thank Mrs. Richards."
"Who the hell is Mrs. Richards?" Hilary asked.
"My kindergarten teacher. I will never forgive or forget that bitch."
"Why? What did she do?"
"I'm glad you asked. See, the first day of school, Mrs. Richards gave us a note to give to our parents, letting them know that parents were responsible for their own kid's snacks and drinks." A security guard and two Chickentown employees joined the audience. "So, Tammy, that's my mom's name for those who are new to the show here, she reads the first part of the note but not the second. That would be the part which gives examples of what appropriate healthy snacks and drinks are recommended. The word 'healthy' was underlined and in bold print. You can see where this is going, right?" She motioned toward Hilary, who smiled and nodded. "So Mommy Dearest stops off at Quick Chek on the way to school and grabs me a Mountain Dew and Twinkies."
There was a collective groan from the peanut gallery. Hilary used the pause in the story to take some orders before allowing Ellie to go on.
"Anyway, snack time rolls around, I open my Lion King lunch box and start digging in. Bitch Richards sees my Twinkies and comes flying at me like a hawk. She screams at me, throws away my Twinkies, and then walks me around the room pointing out examples of healthy snacks."
"You're kidding me." Hilary laughed, picturing little Ellie being tortured by this teacher.
"I would not kid you about snacks. It was like five full minutes of 'See, Ellie, that's a banana. Bananas are an example of a healthy snack.' Finally I snapped."
"What did you do?"
"I cried and smashed my lunch box against the chalkboard. When Mrs. Richards said she was calling my mom, I called her a big green bitch."
The entire congregation in the restaurant giggled at once.
"Why is that so funny? What the hell does that even mean?"
"I dunno. She was standing next to a Statue of Liberty poster. It didn't make sense, but it was very effective as an insult. That was the first class I was ever kicked out of, and I've been a pain in the collective ass of the world ever since."
Hehe. World ass. That's funny.

THE DESCENDANT A Vampire Tale of Biblical Proportions

Excerpt

I knew I wasn’t dying. At least that was what the other doctors had said. But what I didn’t know, and neither did any of those other doctors, was the cause of my symptoms. In fact, those supposed specialists had all declared me to be perfectly healthy and viewed my symptoms with skepticism. But I knew they were mistaken; there was something wrong with me.'

Amanda's 4 star review!

From the first chapter I was hooked.  Kelly has taken a new approach to vampires, and coming from an avid reader of Vampire novels this one is one to add to the top.  I have always been interested in vampires, ever since I was little.  I would sit and watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer for HOURS!  Kelly has taken a traditional tale and put her own spin on it.  She references bible terms and shows you what happens to make the first vampire.  Looking for something new and intriguing and a book you cannot put down? Well look no further because it's right here in front of you :)

Book synopsis:

Circumstances unfold that shatter the foundation of her world.

In order to successfully play the game she has been thrust into, Allison must battle loss and betrayal and accept unexpected love.

THE SEARCH is on for answers, but when answers are found, will they be what Allison was looking for?

Excerpt

“I’ve already told you once and I’m going to tell you again – no. Now please get off the property before I call the police.”
Gabriela tried closing the door again but my foot didn’t budge. I stared directly into her eyes. “You will let me into this house,” I commanded, but Gabriela’s eyes didn’t react to my persuasion. I was confused as to what was going on; this had worked on every human I had tried it on. “You will let me in this house.”
“No…I…won’t.”
I tilted my head in disbelief and Gabriela mockingly tilted her head back at me. I removed my foot from the doorway but had no intention of letting her shut me out. I was going to let her think for the slightest of moments that she had won this argument. I turned to walk away when I heard, “Ali-gator.”
I turned around and as Gabriela was shutting the door asked, “What did you just say?”
Gabriela rattled off something in Spanish before saying, “I didn’t say anything.”
“Yes you did. You whispered ‘Ali-gator.’”
“Um, no I didn’t.” “My husband used to call me that.”
“Okay lady, you’re losing your mind.” She twirled her finger next to her temple as she whistled cuckoo.
If I could have breathed fire I would have in that moment. I charged Gabriela but before I could reach her I felt like I had hit a brick wall. I placed my hands out in front of me but they couldn’t cross the threshold. Gabriela’s smirk irritated me.
“I told you I wouldn’t let you enter,” she taunted and slammed the door.

Amanda's 4 Star Review

This book picks up where the first leaves off and you are following Allison on a path to find her husband Matt, and kind of answering questions about her own self.   Then there's Vincent... ohh Vincent... he makes me want to keep reading... I find myself torn between Vincent and Matt though. I want Allison to happy.   This book has twists like a rollercoaster.  You don't know its about to turn and wham!!!  It kept me off my seat the whole time.  Great Job Kelly!  Bring on the next book :)

“Annie!” I squealed, running and scooping her up before she had the chance to escape. I rained kisses all over her face. She was clearly confused, but she seemed to like it. The evidence? She dropped her doll and squeezed my neck.
Erica stared at me through narrowed eyes. “No one, including me, likes my children that much. What is going on?”
Annie giggled on cue, like she understood her mother’s words. I laughed outright.
“Your momma’s silly, isn’t she? Isn’t she?” I asked, poking Annie’s sides.
“Oh my God, who are you?” Erica demanded. “Where’s my BFF who promised me she’d never have children so I could live vicariously through her? I swear to God if you’re pregnant…”
“Calm down,” I said over the top of Annie’s head. She twisted in my arms signaling she was over my show of affection. I placed her on the floor beside her discarded doll. “How would I even be pregnant?”
“Sex. It’s called sex,” Erica replied. She finished folding the last of Little Noah’s shirts, then tossed it in the laundry basket.
“Don’t say s-e-x in front of the baby!” I chided.
“B, she doesn’t know what sex is.”
“She’ll repeat it.”
“Who cares?”
“Oh, so you want to be the mother with the kid who knows the bad words?” I asked.
“Bad word?” Erica asked, laughing.
“You know what I mean,” I said. “You want to be the mother who all the other mothers gossip about? Like about how bad your parenting skills are?”
Erica placed her hand on her hip. “Yeah, I do. Fuck ‘em. Fuck all those mothers. Fuck their playdates and mommy groups and fucking Melissa and Doug puzzles. Fuck their running strollers and baby couture and breastfeeding advice. Fuck their—”
“ERICA!”
“What?”
I looked down at the floor, but Annie was gone. She’d walked away somewhere, no doubt the kitchen since that seemed to be her favorite place to play.

Nikki's Review

Omg!!! I absolutely loved this book. The conclusion of Brad and Julia's story was evertything I hoped it would be this is the third and final book of the series it ties up all the loose ends and all the question's I had. You do need to read this series in order.

When we first meet Brad De Luca in Blindfolded Innocence (1) he was a bit of a dark character who thought he was incapable of love that was until in walked intern Julia Campbell and turned his world upside down. In Masked Innocence (2) we see Brad open Julia up to his world of sexual exploration. In this 3rd installment Brad and Julia are to be married in a years time but Brad still as one or two secrets that could threaten there life together and put Julia in grave danger.

This is certainly and series I will be recommending I will also be reading more from Alessandra Torre and it definitely deserves 5* if not more.
