Ladies,
I know how things
look from the outside. I’m rich. I’m a successful surgeon. I’m handsome. I
should have women lining up from here to New Jersey clawing for space in my
bed, but there’s one huge catch.
I’m f*cking
awkward.
Every time I get a
date, I spoil it. Asked if she’s pregnant? Check. Forgot her name? Check.
Bought a meat lover’s pizza for my vegan girlfriend? Check, check, check.
This is why my best
friend, romance fanatic Allie Jenkins, has declared that she’s swooping in to
save the day. She’s prepared a list of required reading straight from The
Ripped Bodice, and I’m supposed to take notes, learn from the best, and put
that shit into action. After all, practice makes perfect, right?
Wrong.
Amy's 4 Star Review
I thoroughly enjoyed Awkward it's exactly as the title states when childhood friends become lovers, as much as Jack and Allie tried to deny their feelings and put most of their friendship and closeness down to being like siblings.
I loved the comedy factor of this couple the fact that Allie tried to give Jack dating advice and even follows him on dates to give him tips on where he's going wrong! Their banter is amazing.
My heart truly does go out to Allie who feels like she doesn't deserve Jack he's born through good blood and has his job as a doctor and when Allie is so often reminded by Jack's mom that she's just a teacher to snotty kids, she knows Jack's mom won't be accepting of their relationship and holds back slightly until Jack stands up for her in front of him mum (totally won my heart over moment!)
They both show they love and trust each other whether it's through family or distance they can overcome any battles together.
Lily Kate did an amazing job with their story, I can't wait to read more of her books.
