I'm not exactly sure where to start with Sordid Promise by Courtney Lane. As she clearly states in the front of the book it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea but I was up for an adventure and looking to see what else was out there. This book is wonderfully twisted and slightly sadistic. I think it would make one hell of a suspense movie! It was slightly difficult to keep up with all the twists and turns and personality changes and even after I finished reading it I had to step back and think about it to fully understand everything that the author was trying to get across. But, the writing is great! It kept me very intrigued and wanting to read more. I'm not going to comment on the actual content of the book because I have mixed feelings but all in all it was a good read! If your open minded and looking for something DIFFERENT then try this one out.

I’ve been creating my own little world since I was very young. When I was eight years old, I began to bring those worlds to life with pen and paper.

While I write across genres (I find it hard to stick to one genre), I do have an archetype when it comes to the female protagonist — they have to have certain type of strength, strong convictions, and layered personalities. There will often be a lot of darkness and depth to my stories, but I don’t see the point in writing vapid characters who are thrust into “safe” situations.

Writing Science Fiction/Fantasy is my first love. If there is one thing for sure, I'm a bit of a misfit when it comes to Romance. I prefer my romances dark. The elements that will be common in my stories are: depth, controversy, and misfit characters.
