Author Bio
I'm an Ineffable Dom. That just means, do yourself a favor and please don't try to describe me or fit me into your categories. Complicated Dom, Intricate Dom, Confounding Dom work too. I love very much the soft side of a woman. Not just her body, but everything on the inside-- her passion, her intelligence, her convictions, her delicate tenderness. But the one fetish that might be a part of what makes me an Ineffable Dom is that I love her strengths. I love a woman that isn’t afraid to look me in the eyes and say ‘make me’. But I need it to be real, not staged, not pretended. She has to be a fighter at her core the way I’m a Dom at my core. I want an equal that is willing to come hard against me in every sense of the word, exhaust me. I want her so deep inside me that we’re lost in each other. I want her to never doubt that I will always use my power to adore her, protect her, liberate her. I don’t want a woman I can break, or overpower, or exercise my dominance over, I want a woman I can come undone with. I want a woman I can jump off the cliff with into that abyss of holy hell, this is beyond me, beyond my control. The greatest fear of most people is losing themselves or unravelling their roots. My greatest fear is not finding a woman I can take that plunge with. Yes, it’s a huge risk. That’s the yin and the yang of it. And while the risk titillates my Dom, it’s the ineffable fruit of that risk that moves him. He knows he has to have it. He knows he’s supposed to have. And he’s prepared to dominate for it. I think there are many men like myself, and I hope my writing will be a map for them. A map for women as well, to let them know Doms like this exist. I’d like to call them out of the woodwork. Help men join with their natural inner Doms in a way that I think is one of the most fulfilling experiences there are. I want to challenge them all to go for the complete power exchange with a woman, but don’t be a coward and not give the same that they demand or expect. And consider that when you give one hundred percent of yourself to a person, there is no more of you to give away. You now belong to them the way they belong to you. Inner Doms are dogs that need a master to train them. I once bowed to my Dom's reckless and tireless desires, but when I gained control, he bowed to my will. The transformation made me into what I am today. What many would call an Ineffable Dom. But its equal term in the Vanilla world, in my opinion, is a real man.

JENNIFERS  REVIEW

Ok so I have been waiting for this book ever since I finished the first book in the Hard Ink series and OMG this book did not disappoint!!!  First off I will say that you need to have read the first book in the series before reading this one or you are going to be completely lost and really missing out on a lot of very important information.  This book picks up immediately where the first one left off and I really loved that fact.  I hate when books in a series skips lots of time when they go from one book to the next.  Before I started reading this book I was not really a fan of Shane.  I just did not feel like I was able to connect with him in the first book, but this book more than made up for that.  I am now 100% team Shane!!!  The man is former Special Forces, has Southern charm, is hot as hell, and respects women…… what’s not to love!?!?!?!?!!  Crystal is a very strong woman who is working in a hell hole to pay off a debt that is not even hers so that she can take care of her sister who is sick.  This woman has been through hell and back but did she let it make her bitter?  No, she pushed on because she knew that there was no one else to take care of her sister.  I just wanted to reach out and hug her and tell her that it was all gonna be ok, that she didn’t have to be strong for everyone; she just needed someone to be strong for her too.  I loved how Shane was so determined to take care of Crystal and be there for her after seeing her that first night even though he was working through his own demons.  There were enough sparks flying between Crystal and Shane to start a forest fire!  This book was packed full of action and TONS of emotion.  I was really happy to see all of the other characters make their appearances in this book too.  I just love Jeremy and his crazy t—shirts!!  I am also looking forward to the next book, which will be about Easy.  I also learned a new phrase while reading this book that I am just waiting for my chance to use- swass and swalls (sweaty ass and sweaty balls) I have no clue what situation is going to allow me to use the phrase but I know if I do get to use it I will definitely be thinking about this book.  :)  I give this book 5 stars and can’t wait for the next one!!!!!

RELEASE DAY - Rum And Raindrops

Synopsis

One nature guide. One accidental forest fire. And one steamy investigator hot on her tail.

Jen Kulak's good at running from her problems, so when she finds her best friend and boyfriend in bed together she burns rubber, never looking back. When Jen finds the quirky town of Blueberry Springs, she finally feels as though she's found a place she can call home, settle in, and get to know herself. With help from her boss, she rediscovers her love of nature and begins giving wilderness tours, which would be perfect if it weren’t for the fact that she may have accidentally just burned down the forest she depends upon for her fledgling business. And it would figure that Rob Raine, the man of her dreams, also happens to be the fire investigator hot on the case.

Can Jen find the strength to fight the accusations that could cost her everything? Or will she run again, ignoring the sparks that fly between her and Rob, and torching her chances at a happily ever after?

Excerpt

Rob bent over, digging in the cabinet under the sink for Lord only knew what. Jen stood with her back against the shower door, admiring his firm ass. All that hiking through forests had certainly guaranteed a very nice view for her at the moment. She kind of hoped his you-know-what didn’t fall out of his boxers with all that bending over and digging around. Although she wouldn’t mind if it did. But if something did pop out of his shorts to give her the ol’ eyeball she was pretty sure with all this alcohol partying its way through her bloodstream and causing her synapses to misfire, she wouldn’t be able to handle seeing his you-know-what dance on out without the temptation to…never mind.
Eyes up front. Clean, pure thoughts. White bunnies. Unicorns. Rainbows.
Definitely stop staring at his nice buttocks.
They may have assaulted people together tonight, but he was still hands off.
God, she wished he could be hands-on.
But she didn’t think the courts would take kindly to her sleeping with the investigator. Even if his job was done. He could still be called in to testify. Testify what a hottie she was with her clothes off.
Wow. This alcohol…it must have been the Sex on the Beach shots. Infused with something hormonal because she really wanted to reach up his short’s leg and…and do a lot more than wait to see if she’d become a passive participant in a game of boxer-short-peek-a-boo.
Oh, man. She needed to lock down her brain. And maybe cuff herself to the toilet while she was at it. Hmmm. Cuffs…
No. No. No.
Unicorns. Bunnies. Rainbows. Definitely not bunnies and unicorns doing it on a rainbow.
She just about leapt into the shower to spray herself down with cold water when Rob turned, flashing her nothing but thigh above his tan line, breaking an ice pack from a first aid kit. Jesus. He would have made a good doctor. Those capable hands breaking the inner bag, giving the ice pack a vigorous shake, and now bringing her closer so he could gently apply it. What if she fainted? She could faint right now. Just sort of collapse into his arms. Let him catch her. Maybe he could nurse her back to health without any clothes on.
"What did you do?" Amusement caused a lilt in his voice as he held the pack against the goose egg on her forehead.
"I tackled Cody into the wall when the bouncer came to his rescue. I may have underestimated the physics involved in taking someone down."
He laughed, tipping his head back to let the rich sound swell over her like fresh rain.
She brushed the ice pack away, feeling the chill slipping too deep. She took the wet cloth off the vanity and dabbed at Rob’s lower lip. That bouncer had a hell of a swing.
Rob leaned against the vanity, straddling her between his legs, bringing them eye to eye. He rested a warm hand on her waist, the heat of his grip traveling through her tank top, surrounding her in warmth, protection, and maybe…maybe something else she dared not think about.
She let out a low chuckle. Who would have thought a bar brawl would break the final layer of ice between them? Let him draw her in closer. Their eyes met, holding conversations she couldn’t figure out. The timing, it was still off, wasn’t it? Behind their desire, they were both holding back, afraid. Unable.
She sighed, resisting the urge to brush her chest against Rob in longing. He brushed away her hand with the cloth, pulling her closer. He pulled out her ponytail, running his fingers through her hair to isolate the purple streak. "Why purple?"
She shrugged. "Why not?"
"I like it," he said, wrapping it around his finger. He gave a gentle tug, pulling her face closer to his.
Gray eyes. Warm. Flecks of blue. Hope.
His lips hovered against hers. Not a kiss, but much more than a breath check. She closed her eyes and rested a hand against his cheek, enjoying the moment of being close. Breathing each other in. Not having to progress to anything. Just being. Knowing someone was there.
She pushed her lips a fraction closer, kissing him softly.
This.
This was what she had been missing. What she had wanted all along.
His lips explored hers. Warm and moist. Welcoming.
A real kiss.
A rock your world, weaken the knees kiss.
A kiss for which all future kisses would be measured against. She collapsed into his warmth, the comfort of his body penetrating every wall she’d erected over the years.
So simple. So innocent. And yet so much understanding gently flowing between them.
A tentative, soft connection that ran deep.
She slowly opened her eyes, leaning back.
No future kisses would match its intimacy, tenderness, and trust.
And she wanted more.
They pulled together again, her hands running through his soft, short hair as she kissed him gently, telling his soul she could be patient. His arms encircled her waist, rubbed her back, brought her closer, joined their body heat.
She placed a hand on his chest, arching away, breathless. Inside she was disheveled, everything out of place. She wanted too much. Too much of what she couldn't have.

BLOG TOUR - Just Shoot Me

Just Shoot Me (Cowboy Way, #1) a new series by Becky McGraw, author of the Texas Trouble Series

Synopsis:

Tina Montgomery needs to find her Texas Tomcat. Her promotion and livelihood depend on it. That promotion could mean a new life for her, her sister and her niece. It's a big risk however, because if she fails in her bid to head up a new menswear line at her company, she could lose everything. That's why finding the perfect model to represent the line has become her sole focus. At the point of thinking she would ...never find that man, one with both experience and attitude that shows in his face and eyes, she meets Dean Dixon. His gorgeous eyes tell a story she definitely wants to hear and the man has more attitude than any she’s ever met. Physically he's perfect for the job. But that attitude she thought she wanted in her cowboy quickly becomes her biggest downfall when she tries to convince the sexy, but hard-hearted rancher to help her.

Dean Dixon is done with women. His cheating ex-wife has shown him just how untrustworthy women are. He has a ranch to run, and a son who might not be his to raise alone. That's more than enough for any man to handle without dealing with his sister-in-law’s friend who is determined to convince him to model for her company. He has seen what that industry has done to his brother. Dean is a rancher, not a model, and he isn't about to abandon his family or fall into the same trap his brother had. He stands his ground, until his sister-in-law tells him why Tina needs the promotion she’s wanting so badly, and asks for his help. Hope had bailed him and his family out when they needed her the year prior. How could he refuse to help her now?

Excerpt:

Dean laid the clothes on the vanity, and pulled the jeans off the hanger then unbelted the robe he was wearing and let it drop to the floor. He inspected the jeans and decided they were a little heavy on the fancy stitching on the back pockets, but might be something he wore for special occasions. He surely wouldn’t be working outside in them.

At least they were bootcut and not those damned skinny leg jeans that men were wearing these days. He had no idea how men wore those damned jeans. He’d feel like he was in a sausage casing. One thing was for sure the men that wore those type of jeans like Paulo, didn’t wear cowboy boots with them. Boots would never fit under the tight legs.
Dean put his legs in the jeans then pulled them up. To get them buttoned he had to suck in and lean back against the vanity. Before he zipped them he had to rearrange things to make sure the zipper didn’t catch anything important. God if a man got excited in these jeans, there would definitely be trouble, he thought, as he finally got the zipper up and looked down at himself.

They were too tight, he decided, patting his ass and not feeling an inch of give in the material. He ran his thumb along the waistband and there was no room there either. Surely, that woman Belinda had brought more than one pair. Tina had sent a tailor out Wednesday to take his measurements, but the guy must’ve gotten the numbers wrong. Dean shoved his undershirt into the waistband of the jeans, put on his boots then opened the door. He walked back down the hall to the living room of the bunkhouse. Belinda was talking to Hope and Tina, so he just walked over there.

“These pants are too tight,” Dean complained and all three women swung around to face him. He figured they must’ve realized it too, because as a group they gasped and put their hands to their chests. He even heard a whimper from over by the sofa that had to come from Paulo. “I’m gonna bust out of these if I breath too deeply. Get me another pair,” Dean said shortly.

Tina broke from the others to walk over and slowly circle him, inspecting him like she would a side of beef. That’s exactly what he felt like right then with the petite brunette’s hot eyes on his body. Uncomfortable, Dean shifted his weight from foot to foot.

“They’re perfect,” she said softly, as she stopped to face him.

Her gray eyes made it up as far as his mouth and lingered a second, before her gaze tracked back down his throat, moved slowly over his chest down his legs to his toes. “Perfect,” she repeated. On the return trip up his body, her eyes lingered for a moment at his crotch. That look he’d seen in her eyes the other day when she was moving the car came back. Interest. Desire.

Dean quickly found out that he was right about the lack of stretch in those jeans. Tina might as well have actually touched him there considering his reaction. That thought made him harder. “Get me another pair of damned jeans!” he demanded as he turned away quickly before anyone noticed his problem.

He strode back down the hallway, and slammed the bathroom door behind him. Leaning back against it, he shut his eyes. He’d had a fucking hard on since he met that woman. Her staring at him like that when he hadn’t had sex in three fucking years wasn’t helping his problem. He hadn’t taken the edge off in a long time either.

Why did his damned sex drive have to come out of hibernation now? And why because of a woman he did nothing but argue with? Because even though his mind might resist the idea of being attracted to the tiny spitfire, his body was definitely there.

Big time, he thought looking down at the straining zipper on the jeans.

He kept feeling her soft skin against his palm when he took off her boots, and wondering if the rest of her shapely body was just as warm and silky. Wondered if the tips of her perky breasts were dusky pink or coral colored. And how they would taste. The tip of his tongue tingled, and Dean got so hard, he really did think he might break the zipper out of those jeans.

And there wasn’t a damned thing he could do about it. This photo shoot was about to go to hell in a handbasket. Dean was about to be humiliated too. He knew someone would probably be knocking on that door soon, expecting him to come back out there. When he did, the whole crew was in for a surprise. Unless he did something to fix the situation himself.

Dean unzipped the jeans, and shoved them down his legs, grabbed the hand towel off the rack beside the sink, then shuffled over to sit on edge of the tub. He jerked his underwear down and fisted himself. Sitting sideways he leaned back against the wall, straddled the tub edge and closed his eyes. He gripped his painful erection, and stroked himself, as he pictured Tina Montgomery using that beautiful mouth of hers on him. Dean held back a moan, his breathing hitched, and his heart beat an unsteady rhythm in his chest.

With each stroke, each fantasy he indulged, the tension inside him ratcheted up. Pleasure built, his balls tightened and he moaned, damned close to coming when the bathroom door opened. A soft gasp followed, and his eyes flew open to see the woman he was fantasizing about standing there, looking as embarrassed as he felt right then.

God, he wished someone would just shoot him. Put him out of his misery. His face felt like it was on fire as he threw the hand towel over his lap and sat up.

“Um, I was just coming to see what was taking so long,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She waved her hand, put it to her cheek then shook her head and dragged her eyes toward the toilet. “You just, ah…finish up…and I’ll be out there,” she said without looking at him. Tina crawfished back out of the door and pulled it shut. Dean just sat there with his heart pounding in his ears, more embarrassed than he’d ever been in his life.

BLOG TOUR - The Killing Times

Excerpt

       ~Prologue ~

Twelve Months Earlier

It was all wrong, and he simply couldn’t accept it. There had to be something connecting these deaths, and he just wasn’t seeing it clearly. Sheriff Charlie LaRue sat at his desk in his home office, eating his dinner with his case files open on his lap. As he compared the three victims, there had to be a reason their lives all came to an end. It wasn’t as if these were the first deaths the town had seen, and yet something rubbed him the wrong way. Just last year there had been a drowning in the lake, but they chalked it up to too much booze on the holiday, but these three... they truly screamed ‘foul’. Charlie was bothered enough to keep digging through the information. Eventually, he would get to the bottom of it, even if it became his life mission. Now he was a dog with a meaty bone, and plenty of time to strip it bare. It seemed that all he had left at this point in his life was time.

He’d been a lawman for thirty years now. Charlie worked his way up through the ranks in the big city, supporting a wife and daughter on his salary. He truly loved the job. Then one day, that all came screeching to a halt. His wife, on her way to a soccer game with their only child, was killed in a car accident. He then was forced to become the mom and dad to a stubborn little spitfire. Big city life had to come to an end. When they had the chance, he moved them to Salem, to slow down the pace. This would ensure that he would live long enough to raise his daughter.

In his opinion, there was nothing like living in the Deep South. In the north, time moved forward quickly, where in Salem- it didn’t. It stayed a sleepy old town.

His work there was gratifying as sheriff. It wasn’t always exciting, but he got to interact daily with the people he swore to protect. It also allowed him to watch his daughter grow up into a fine young woman. Sadly though, slow town life didn’t suit her at all, and once she graduated college, Elizabeth was off to Quantico to become part of the FBI.

Pride swelled in his heart as he stared over at her picture on his book shelf. She was the spitting image of her momma, and the stubborn duplicate of her father.

God help the world!

As he refocused on the files in front of him, Charlie continued eating his salad, despite how much he loathed the leafy clippings. It reminded him of lawn cuttings and tasted just about the same. But a promise was made to his daughter, one he intended to keep. If he ate better and stopped smoking, then maybe he would get to see grandkids one day.

He glanced down at the greens that he had dumped from the big container in his refrigerator. Yeah, this was going to be torture. His ex-wife couldn’t get him to eat healthy, but his daughter and a promise of grandkids one day certainly could.

In her last email, she mentioned a possible second date. It gave him hope that it would lead to more. Charlie desperately wanted her to find the love he once had with his first wife. She had been his soul mate, and he desired that for his daughter too.

Since he’d been thinking of her and the emails, he needed to send one back. Maybe he should ask for a second set of eyes to take a look at these files. It was possible a trained special agent with the FBI would have a better chance at sorting through all this crap. Then possibly, Elizabeth could give her old man a clue.

He rolled his eyes in disgust as more greens went down the gullet.

Apparently, Charlie would do anything to one day see those grandkids.

As he began to type the email, he felt a quickening in his pulse and a tightening in his chest. Possibly, he was pushing himself a little too hard. In his medical history, there was a slight arrhythmia that gave him concern. The doctor assured him with medication, he would be fine. Maybe taking the rest of the night off would be a good thing; after all, he wasn’t a young man anymore. Sixty was right around the corner, and he hadn’t exactly lived a clean life. Yeah, the smoking and beer were catching up to him, so maybe he’d just finish his lawn clippings and head to bed.

Charlie was almost done. All that was left was to hit send. Before he could, there was a scraping noise from the patio. It sounded like someone was opening his door, trying to get into gain access to the house. Immediately, Charlie shut down all his files and closed his laptop.

It would have to wait until his company was gone.

In his mind, Charlie had plenty of time.

Charlie tried to stand, but the room swam and his throat began to constrict.

 Oh God, something was wrong!

He reached for the phone to dial 911, but it slipped from his hand. All the feeling in his hand was gone, as the numbness spread to his legs, his thighs, and finally his chest. Suddenly, he wished he sent the email, or better yet had taken the time to call his daughter.

“Did you enjoy your salad, Charlie?” questioned the voice from the doorway.

Charlie tried to speak, but his tongue felt incredibly swollen. He couldn’t understand why the visitor was in his house.

Uninvited.

“Oh, don’t worry, Charlie. While you were at work I mixed you up some special greens of my own.”

Panic set in as his breathing slowed. How he wished he could get to his gun and take one well aimed shot.

“I’m sure you realize now what Foxglove can do to the body. It’s very toxic and the poison works fairly quickly. Isn’t it delightful that digitalis is both a toxin and a cure? Nature can be such a wicked thing. As can humans, Charlie.”

He knew it was over, and he began whispering a mental goodbye to his daughter. He prayed when she was forced to come home, that she wouldn’t stay. If she remained, ultimately she would die too.

“It’s time to end your reign as Sheriff, Charlie. You won’t be investigating these deaths anymore. It’s time to sleep,” mocked the voice, as the man slowly began to slump over his laptop.

Breath shuddered, as everything came to a stop. He swore he heard the last beat of his heart. Soon, all his last cognizant thoughts were gone before the blackness came and swallowed him.

The laughter was sadistic and evil. “Tick, tock, Charlie. Now it looks like you’ll be my next victim. Sadly, they’ll think you had a heart attack, you old coot. Let’s keep that our own little secret. It appears you’ll be taking it to your grave.”

The voice placed the receiver back in the cradle and closed Charlie’s dead eyes. Now that he was gone, the purification of Salem could continue, but first, there would be a little break. There would be a new sheriff and the trail needed to temporarily go cold, until the replacement was found and studied. No need to draw suspicion with another death. There was plenty of time. Why rush and screw it up? After all, this was all a calling.

One from God!

Six Hundred Miles Away

Ethan Blackhawk tossed and turned in his bed. The dream grabbed him, refusing to let go, no matter how hard he tried to wake himself. He should be used to it by now, since the same woman had been habitually invading his nights and sometimes entering his days. There were moments where she brought him peace and other times abject horror.

Good dreams, bad dreams, even horrific ones all centered around her as if she was the catalyst. There were even some dreams that would make him blush if he wasn’t asleep. Ethan was ashamed to admit it, but his favorite ones were the voyeuristic dreams, where his blood heated his body. All of it was driving him mad with want.

The dreams were becoming more urgent. In this one the woman was standing in a circle of blood, as it ran over her body in sick rivulets. In one hand was a gun and in the other was a badge. Barely visible was the FBI lettering. Her long, black hair waved in the breeze, as she stared at him with the prettiest blue eyes he had ever seen. Correction, they were the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen in his life. They captivated his attention with their color alone. Her body was next to draw his full attention. The woman was tall and lean. Her hair whipped around her, like a cape in the invisible breeze. What Ethan wouldn’t give to slide his hands into the mass of black silk, holding her to his body.

“Come find me, Ethan. I need your help,” she whispered, into the darkness. It was as if she was staring right through him, seeing all his secrets.

“Where are you?” he pleaded. The desperation was building, as he needed to find her. Maybe if he located her, it would end the torment he was suffering. His life was plagued with this woman and the need to protect her. She had become his obsession, driven by his own selfish desires to touch, taste and feel her.

“I’m at the mouth of hell.” It was simply spoken with both fear and honesty. Wherever she was, it was indeed hellish. Death was surrounding her, and she couldn’t hold it back any longer. Soon it would be coming for her.

“How am I supposed to find you?” His own voice betrayed him, as all the need and want flooded through with the emotions. Blackhawk prided himself in being a man of few words. Yet in his dreams with her, he was always a geyser; desperate to keep her there with him as long as possible.

She tipped her head to the side, pondering the question and searching for the answer herself. How could she explain to him that she couldn’t supply him with the very thing that eluded her too?  “Follow the trail of bodies, and they’ll lead you to me,” she replied, dropping her gun and badge into the puddle of blood, willingly abandoning them.

“Wait!”

“Hurry Ethan, I need your help!” With that she turned and began walking away, leaving a trail of bloody footsteps marking her path.

Ethan watched the dream waver, sitting up in a panic and finally breaking through. He scrubbed his hands over his face, hoping to wipe away the dream and the panic brewing, but to no avail, it remained. He shuddered and pulled himself from his bed, walking to the window and staring out at the silence of the city.

“I’ll find you, I promise,” he whispered, praying it wouldn’t be too late for either of them.

Everything in him screamed the truth.

Ethan needed her to survive.

Back In Salem

One Year Later

The truck bounced haphazardly down the rocky road. It spewed pebbles and gravel behind it, as it sped into the darkness without a care in the world.

Death had no schedule.

When it was time to die, it was the end of the line and these two witches deserved it. They flaunted their bodies, giving away what shouldn’t be bargained so freely. They deserved what happened to them.

At first, it was easy to just get them high. It only took a few special joints and to lure them, one by one, to the Jacuzzi. It was quite simple as they didn’t weigh more than one hundred pounds each. Both girls were barely legal in age, and easy to trick into doing his will. There was such stupidity in youth, but alas, that was handled now. There would be no fast living; there would be no more drugs, sex and rock and roll. All there was now was the finality of death.

Theirs.

Both had gone fairly quickly. They were held under the water, until eyes were huge with fear. Ignored were their struggles, as they fought to survive. Although, he had to admit, there was definitely remorse with the second girl. Her parents were kind people, and it wasn’t their fault that they were raising a witch. How could they know she was willing to dance naked under the moonlight for any man?

What a shame! There was even a moment of pity, when she was pulled to the surface, allowing her to catch her breath and beg for her life. Only it wasn’t meant to be, as he pushed her back under to begin the torture all over again. He wasn’t permitted to stop. The voice had demanded it be done.

Cleanse the town of all the witches!

Evil was everywhere in the world, including Salem, and he was ‘chosen’ to find the offenders and purify his town.

This was his calling.

Now it was time to dump their bodies and head home. It had been almost a year since the last cleansing had taken place. The break in between only fueled the hunger and need to do the duty assigned at his birth. This was his calling, and a mission from God. It was one that needed to be completed. Everyone in town would benefit, and a new, pure Salem would be reborn.

He brought the truck to a stop beside the serene lake. It would be a good place to leave the girls. By morning they would be found by someone, and if not, it just prolonged the fun of watching the new sheriff trying to solve the crimes.

Charlie LaRue had been smart and didn't miss a thing. His replacement looked like she should be modeling in a magazine. Elizabeth LaRue had been in the FBI, but now her father’s death had brought her home.

That would be the worst decision of her life!

Attempting to match wits with a killer was one thing, but trying to stop the divine intervention of God was another. If she got too close, she too would end up one of the victims. Honestly, that wouldn’t be a bad thing. Like the second girl, he’d regret it a little bit, but as usual the voice would give him strength and urge him forward.

It always did!

As the bodies were lowered into the lake, they made light ripples around the shoreline. The tiny fish began checking to see what was now disturbing their habitat. The moon shone down on their corpses, as they were pushed towards the deep, center of the water. Soon, they would sink and their transformation would be complete.

From sinner to cleansed.

From life to death.

The count was once again growing and the game was starting, anew. Continuing the hunt for the next witch was his ultimate plan. But why rush? Tonight was their baptism, and it should be all about them.

A silent prayer was said for their souls, and then followed by barely suppressed laughter.

Once again ‘the killing times’ were upon them. It was all about purging Salem of the evil that had found its way there.

Sinners beware.

Salvation was on its way!

The little skip, skip of my heart is slightly sickening. How can I go from scared to… to so needy in less than ten seconds? The sight of Nick on my bed seems to short circuit my brain. I’m pretty sure I can feel explosions going on behind my eyes. Memories of being pressed against him, of him inside me, combust in my mind.

One arm comes around my waist and draws me close in understanding. I wish he couldn't read me so well sometimes. The fear of earlier has been replaced with something much more urgent and frightening. His thumb rubs roughly across my cheek as he coaxes my face up and away from his chest. His eyes are sincere and guilt jabs me for even imagining he might hurt me. My chest tightens as his callused thumb continues to smooth across my face. I want it. I can’t help it. I need him to kiss me. My lips tingle in anticipation and I hold my breath.

I don’t know if it’s adrenaline that numbs my common sense when it comes to Nick or what, but the pain in my neck has all but gone. The hammering of my heart is replaced with a steady throb of desire. His gaze drops to my lips and I wait for him to close the distance between us but I suspect he’s waiting for my permission.

I tighten my grip on the back of his neck, almost fearful he might pull away, and I bring my lips to his. We hover there, exchange breaths and heat for a moment, and when we finally connect it’s slow and acute. I’m aware of every tiny touch of his lips on mine. Before I can deepen it, he pulls back and drops his hand to my wine-soaked top. His smile tilts.

“We need to get you out of that top.”

 Jennifer's 5 star Review

I am a sucker for a good book with a military man and this one did not disappoint.  Sienna Wright has just buried her husband, Rob, who was a soldier and she has only one person who she can lean on, Nick Jackson.  Nick is a soldier too but he has been on desk duty ever since he suffered a serious injury during his last deployment.  He was Rob’s best friend at one time but he and Sienna had become best friends during her marriage to Rob.  Nick has been in love with Sienna for a long time but he knew he could never act on those feelings as long as Sienna was married, even when he could see the sadness in Sienna’s eyes from her marriage.  Now there is nothing standing in the way of the sparks that are flying between these two.  I loved the way the author portrayed these characters.  Sienna was so strong, even though she was going through hell with the mess her husband had left behind she did not let her circumstances defeat her, she fought back.  Nick was freaking hot as hell but he was also sweet and charming at the same time.  He knew that he loved Sienna and he knew that she wanted him but he also knew that he had to give her the space and time she needed to make her own decision.  I found myself rooting for this couple from the very first chapter.  I wanted to see these two get their happy ever after.  I really enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading more from Samantha Holt.  I love the way she showed so many emotions throughout this entire book.  I give this one 5 stars!!!!!!!

Johnny swung the M16 and pointed it at me, “Come here, honey.” He smiled, and I held back the waves of nausea. I knew the smile, what he wanted, knew if he got me out of here, I was going to hurt. “Stop shooting and I will.” I kept my feet planted, hoping the fear didn’t show. He turned and shot a man trying to crawl away. I flinched as blood and thicker things spread over the floor. “You don’t negotiate. Come here, Karen. We have unfinished business.” I took a deep breath, the smell of copper pennies and released bowels covering my nose and throat. Don’t cry, show no weakness. There are others that might survive. I took a step, followed by several more. If I managed to get Johnny and Jake out of here, they could lock down and call for help. Peripheral vision said at least seven survived. The good of the many outweigh the good of the few, or the one, I repeated in my head, remembering the line from the eighties movie, Star Trek: Wrath of Khan. I wasn’t brave like Spock, I was a coward, and couldn’t live with myself. Standing in front of Johnny, I released a punch, sending him reeling. I grabbed his M16 as he lurched to the left, and turned it on Jake. I hesitated, seeing his beautiful eyes, a dozen years of memories flashing in front of me. Shaking my head, I pulled the trigger. His body jumped and moved, eyes wide with pain and surprise. I turned the muzzle to a hunched over Johnny, “Look at me. For once, don’t be a coward, and face the person who is going to take your life.”
